some of my favorite everythings!! always going to be adding things as they come to me, so none of these are in any order at all :)

Clue
(1985)
just a silly fun movie! i can watch it over and over again
The Great Race
(1965)
is this a movie i only first sat through because it featured peter falk? yes. did it surprisingly become weirdly one of my favorite silly movies ever? absolutely. literally a star-studded cast too it's so fun!!
Little Shop of Horrors
(1986)
this is a movie that is so good it barely needs an introduction. probably shaped my tastes in media for the past 20 years or so!
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
(2023-)
this is a show that honestly shocked me with how much i enjoyed it. and i literally don't know anything about the monsterverse!! the first season has one of the most heart-breaking scenes i've seen in a show in a very long time.
Plastic Beach
Gorillaz (2010)
7. "Empire Ants"
one of my all-time favorite albums. is the first and only album i ever purchased on release day and listened to its entirety. it was the first time i ever understood the art of a complete album.
We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank
Modest Mouse (2007)
6. "Missed The Boat"
this album has SUCH a tasty sound. absolutely scrumptious. loved this album for years particularly because of the guitar performance and only found out recently johnny marr was involved. OF COURSE!!!
The Smiths
The Smiths (1984)
2. "You've Got Everything Now"
my favorite album to be sad and gay to. highly recommend. morrissey can eat entire my ass though
Speaking in Tongues
Talking Heads (1983)
9. "This Must Be The Place"
i didn't know i could have the feelings i do when listening to this album. a literal piece of art.
Eureka
Mother Mother (2011)
6. "Simply Simple"
this album was my saving grace when i was a mental nightmare my sophomore year in college. lots of great tracks and unique sounds all throughout.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team
(2005)
the very first video game i ever beat in its entirety EVER. still so so so important to me.
Portal 2
(2011)
one of the only games i've played multiple times in its entirety. a perfectly crafted and fun game with wonderful story and writing.
The Neverhood
(1996)
on the other hand this is a game i have unfortunately never been able to play myself due to issues with obtaining a playable version, this is a game i've watched many many many playthroughs of. such a cool and revolutionary game!!
Baldur's Gate III
(2023)
wow BIG surprise a BG3 recommendation... what can i say it really is that good
House of Leaves
Mark Z. Danielewski (2000)
i devoured this book in literally a week the first time i read it. a little pretentious but once you get past that it's SO good and scary.
The Tale of Despereaux
Kate DiCamillo (2003)
this is my absolute all-time favorite children's book. my 3rd grade teacher read one chapter a day to the class as a reward and i was so unbelievably enraptured that once we finished the book in class, i begged my parents to let me buy a copy and i read it front to back the same day. it was the first book i read that had me feel that sometimes life isn't fair but that's okay and it's worth it to keep fighting.
If on a winter's night a traveler
Italo Calvino (1979)
what a truly fascinating book this was! this book made me chuckle so many times and i LOVE some good postermodernist writing. nested narratives are also always a delight. i really didn't expect to enjoy this so much!
The Raw Shark Texts
Steven Hall (2007)
oh no!!! all of the things i've loved and lost are haunting the narrative again!!!!!
The Dionaea House
Eric Heisserer
one of the first "creepypastas" i ever read! the first portion of the story is completely archived, so i highly recommend giving it a read. a quick search seems to turn up most of the remaining parts, so if you have the chance to go on a bit of a treasure hunt i recommend it!! it's one of the original internet horror stories and i'd say is super formative to the format of digital horror ARGs
Jerma985
yeah yeah ANOTHER gay person recommending jerma i know. but he actually is one of the best online creators around right now, and not just for his typical video game content. his specials, like the dollhouse and baseball streams, are so creative! my personal favorite special is the 2022 christmas stream
Ted the Caver
Ted Hegemann
this is the grandpa of almost all creepypastas, and still gives me chills to think about. it's a quick read, probably less than an hour, but has so much atmosphere without being too over the top. it really feels authentically like a regular person experiencing something incomprehensible and it's SO good. unfortunately the original source is riddled with ads due to it being hosted on angelfire. reading it on the original 2001 angelfire site is part of the experience though, so i recommend utilizing adblock when visiting!
